The Truth About Cats and Dogs... and Honey Badgers

People sometimes wonder why we have a pet policy. I mean pets are people too, right? They are a part of the family, why do we put restrictions on that? “My dog is lovable; he would never be aggressive. He doesn’t really need to be on a leash...” “My dog doesn’t ever bark…” “Why can’t I have four dogs in my apartment? They won’t bother anyone…” “I just want one more cat. Why can’t I have one more cat?” [youtube=] We love cats...but not as much as some people…. People LOVE their pets. I’ve never had someone tell me, my pet destroys carpet, or chews on cabinets, or barks/whines/howls all day when I’m gone, or is aggressive… I’ve also never had anyone confess, “I don’t pick up after my dog unless someone is looking, I let my pet go outside without a leash, or I plan to leave my dog on the patio when I am gone all day, or I collect cats… …So I know I rent only to perfect pet owners with perfectly behaved pets. That’s why some of the things we deal with concerning pets on property are unexplainable and just plain weird… And that is why we have a pet policy. Camden is extremely pet friendly. We understand that pets are a part of the family and we try to accommodate pets when we can. Pet policies vary from property to property but most of us welcome a large variety of pets. Most of us also have some restrictions… We have breed restrictions, weight restrictions and we limit the number of pets in an apartment. We do not allow honey badgers. Because you don’t want your well behaved dog to be attacked by the dog upstairs who runs out of the apartment without a leash. And you don’t want to listen to your neighbor’s dog bark all day while they are at work. And you don’t want four dogs wrestling in the apartment above you. And you don’t want that girl next door to have one more cat… And let’s face it, honey badgers are disgusting… Our pet policies aren’t perfect, and unfortunately sometimes we are unable to accommodate a perfect pet that doesn’t fit our guidelines, even though they are the exception to the rule. In Colorado, almost everyone has a pet. The majority are big dogs. Camden Denver West is home to a rescued greyhound that lives by the pool, a boston terrier that comes into the office and “sings” for treats, a giant schnauzer with impeccable grooming and a cat that takes walks on a harness, to name just a few. We love our pets. If you are looking for a home that will accommodate your pets, Camden is a great place to start. If we can’t help you, we will do our best to find someone who can, even if we have to send you to our competition. We feel that strongly about finding you and your pet a perfect home. Unless your pet is a honey badger. We really can’t help you with that.
