Summertime in Arizona is well known for its constant sunshine and sizzling hot temperatures. We are called the Valley of the Sun for a reason! Summer safety is important as the sun and heat can cause heat exhaustion, sunburns, dehydration, and even heat stroke in serious cases. Check out tips from this Arizona native on how to enjoy summer while staying safe!

Hydration Station

Stay hydrated! It is recommended to drink water even when you don’t feel thirsty. Bringing a reusable water bottle with you wherever you go can help you stay on track. Ones with time stamps are great to encourage you to crush those hydration goals. When you add exercise into the mix, it is crucial to rehydrate and not lose much-needed electrolytes. Camden makes it easy by adding water stations inside most of our Fitness Centers in the communities. Just pop over to the Fitness center and enjoy your workout, because we've thought of everything!

Daily Sunscreen

Sunscreen is the best way to protect your skin from the desert’s harsh UVA and UVB rays. When playing outdoors, make sure to reapply every few hours. It is even recommended to add sunscreen to your daily regimen as Arizona is one of the states with the strongest sunlight. Even on cloudy days, protection against the sun’s rays will save you in the long run.

Looking for a pool with shade to give you even extra coverage? Check out Camden North End with resort-style cabanas!

Utilize Evenings and Early Mornings

The coolest times of the day are evenings and early mornings. This is the best time to go for a run, take your dog for a walk, or get a breath of fresh air. Your furry friends will definitely appreciate it, as the sidewalk and asphalt get much too hot for their paws. If you do plan on taking them out during the day, investing in booties is a great idea to keep their paws cool.

Picking an apartment home with a great dog park also helps, check out this one at Camden San Paloma with ample shade and space!

Air conditioning is what helps all of us survive the most.
