While living in a Camden apartment, you may want to decorate or make your space your own, but sometimes it’s hard to know what renter-friendly things you can do. The good news is, there are so many creative options to help transform your space into something you love.
I did some research and was amazed at the possibilities. I even found a few ideas I wish I had tried sooner! Now I know exactly what my next DIY project will be.
Here are some renter-friendly ways to refresh your Camden apartment:

1. Peel-and-Stick Wallpaper
Apply peel-and-stick wallpaper to an accent wall or use contact paper on countertops and in cabinets to add style and hide imperfections. These options are damage-free and easy to remove.
2. Add Some Art Décor
Create a gallery wall with framed art or use fabric or removable wallpaper as a temporary wall covering. Secure it with finish nails or thumbtacks and patch the small holes when you move out. Artwork instantly brightens the space and makes it pop!
3. Upgrade Your Lighting
Swap out existing bulbs for daylight-white bulbs or add temporary lighting like string lights and battery-operated LED strips. I personally love the crisp look of white light - it makes the whole space feel fresh and clean!
4. Mirrors for Light and Space
Strategically place mirrors across from windows to reflect light and create the illusion of more space. This trick makes small apartments feel brighter and more open.
5. Modular Furniture
Invest in modular furniture pieces that offer both style and storage. They’re versatile, easy to move, and perfect for reconfiguring your space whenever you want a new look.

6. Greenery
Bring life into your home with potted plants or hanging planters. They add color, freshness, and tranquility. And if you don’t have a green thumb, like me, fake plants are a perfect alternative for that same touch of greenery!
7. Rugs
Area rugs are a simple way to define different zones in an open-plan apartment, add warmth and color, and cover flooring you may not love.

Just because you rent doesn’t mean your apartment can’t feel like home. With a few renter-friendly updates, you can create a one-of-a-kind space that feels truly yours and impresses your guests, too. Of course, before making any changes, always check with your leasing office to confirm what’s allowed.
Now it’s time to make your apartment a place you’ll love coming home to!
