Moving to the Triangle? For those of you new here, that’s what locals call the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area. While you’re researching what you need to know about moving here, you’ll find that one of the things you need to know is the hotspots! Here is a list of the most popular areas in the Triangle and what you need to know about them!

Umstead State Park

Are you looking for a place to hike, camp, cycle, fish, or boat? You can do all of that and more at Umstead State Park. North Carolina’s third-largest state park is just a short five-minute drive from Camden Asbury Village, and you’ve got plenty of outdoor activities to tide you over until your next road trip to the North Carolina mountains.

Downtown Raleigh

It shouldn’t come as any surprise that there are a few downtown areas that made the list. Whether you’re looking to take your kids to the Natural Science Museum, enjoy locally brewed craft beer at the beer garden with the largest selection of beer in the world, grab a bite to eat at any of several Michelin-recognized restaurants, or simply enjoy a coffee at one of the destination-worthy coffee shops, downtown Raleigh has something for everybody. You’d be delighted to see how easily accessible all of this is if you live at Camden Carolinian or Camden Village District.

Downtown Durham

Think all downtowns are the same? Wrong! While offering amenities similar to downtown Raleigh's, plus a baseball field where the Durham Bulls play, Durham’s downtown offers a distinct vibe from Raleigh’s. Experience a preserved historical sense while walking around Durham’s renovated factories, renovated for modern-day uses. Walk along the Tobacco District to see one of the most beautiful parts of the Triangle, or check out a rooftop bar for a stunning view of the city. One of the Triangle’s newest apartment communities, Camden Durham, is ready for you to schedule a tour!

Downtown Cary

Just a few years ago, downtown Cary would never have been thought of as a hotspot. But now, no place is busier on a Saturday night! If you want fancy cocktail bars, food trucks, breweries, international cuisine, bar food, delicious coffee, or the cutest park in the Triangle, look no further than downtown Cary, where they have something for everyone! If you want to live near downtown Cary, Camden Asbury Village is just a seven-minute drive away and on a bus line running between downtown Cary and the State Fair grounds.

Pullen Park/Dorothea Dix Park

Looking to get out into the fresh air, but don’t want to go out into the woods? Both parks, not far from each other, offer a lot to Raleigh residents. If you want to take your kids to a children’s amusement park, take an art class, a place to throw around a Frisbee, or want to go on an adventurous troll hunt, go check them out. Seeing the sunflower fields at Dix is a summer tradition for me!

Franklin Street/UNC Campus

Chapel Hill has classic college town appeal. Franklin Street is home to most of UNC's best student bars and restaurants, typical of a college town. While you’re there, check out the UNC campus. It’s regularly listed as one of the most beautiful college campuses in the country! While you’re there, be sure to visit Caffe Driade, He’s Not Here, Time-Out Restaurant, and, of course, the Old Well! If you’re looking to move to Chapel Hill but want to live apart from the bustling nature of a college town, you’ll feel right at home at Camden Governor’s Village. Check them out!

Village District

Previously known as Cameron Village, Village District is an 18-hour destination for locals and visitors alike. With specialty shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and special spots like Mr. Henry’s Bar and Goodnights Comedy Club, it offers a relaxing atmosphere if you’re looking for a quieter evening but want to be in an exciting area. Camden Village District opened in early 2025, and you can schedule a tour here to walkably live near everything Village District has to offer!

Fenton

This new area has taken the Triangle by storm! I hear people bring up places to go and things to do in Fenton all the time. If you want to have a meal while watching a movie, ice skate at Christmastime, dance, or eat delicious food, Fenton has what you’re looking for!

North Hills

Looking for a modern place to hang out? Look no further than North Hills. Just a seven-minute drive from Camden Overlook puts you at one of the best spots in the Triangle for shopping, eating, events, and exploring! Be sure to experience the Midtown Beach Music Series, which runs from April through July every year!

The Triangle offers something for everyone. Familiarize yourself with these hotspots; you’ll feel like a seasoned local in no time! Once you’re familiar with them, make sure you know the Triangle tourist attracts! While you’re out and about in Raleigh, make sure you check out the best places to live in the Triangle, your local Camden apartment communities.
