Quick and Easy Dinner for a Busy Day: Shrimp Chowder
Many of our Camden apartment home kitchens are loaded with energy efficient appliances to make cooking a breeze and environmentally friendly. However, with the kids heading back to school, us getting closer cooler nights, and just busy lives these days it can be hard to want to make dinner. Check out this great Shrimp Chowder that you can make in minutes or let it cook all day in your handy dandy crockpot! This Chowder is so easy it only takes 6 ingredients and just a few spices.
The first step is to gather up your pot or crockpot and your ingredients:
- 1 bag of salad size frozen shrimp
- 2 cans of cream of potato soup
- 1 can of cream of mushroom soup
- 1 pint of half and half
- 1 8oz cream cheese block
- 1 stick of unsalted butter
- Black pepper to taste
- Old Bay to taste
- Parsley to taste
- Ground cayenne pepper to taste
- Salt to taste
The next steps are super simple, just add everything to the cookware of your choice!
- I personally love spices in everything I make! Of course, if you do not like too much spice in your life then just add 1 table spoon of each spices into the pot.
- Add in a stick of butter and cream cheese, after cutting it into pieces. This will help it melt more evenly throughout the chowder.
- Add in your half and half, then slightly mix together.
- Scoop in both cans of Cream of Potato and Cream of Mushroom soup.
- Add in your Shrimp! I only used about half the bag, but you can add as much or as little shrimp that you like!
- The final step is to mix it all together and heat up until combined. If you are using a crockpot set it on high for 2-3 hours and low for 4-5 hours. If you are just using a pot on the stove, then you want to cook it at medium-low heat and stir occasionally until almost bubbly.
You will want to let it cool off a bit before digging in! Also, accompany your Shrimp Chowder with cheese, bread, or oyster crackers for some more flavor.
Pro tip: I love using a crockpot liner when I cook in a crockpot. This is a great way to make clean up even faster for any crockpot recipes.
