Camden to Camden Living

We have Camden apartment homes in 9 states and 15 metro areas, with a total of 171 apartment communities. On top of our coast-to-coast living options, we love our residents and want to keep each of you in the Camden family, so we’ve made our transfer process as easy as possible!

Getting Started – Location is Everything

The first step is letting your current Camden community know where and when you are wanting to move. Not sure where you want to move next? That’s no problem either! With communities located in some of the most desirable US cities like Raleigh, North Carolina, Austin, Texas, and Orange County, California, your options are endless.

Still not sure where you want to go? Easily view apartment communities within each of Camden’s metro areas in the “Explore apartments in our cities” section on

Once you’ve identified the state or metro area you want to move to, we can help narrow down the available communities to best fit your needs and desired move-in date. If you are searching online for the perfect home, you can easily use the filters on to narrow down your options by community features and/or apartment features.

Next Steps – The Logistics

With your next home identified, we put you in contact with our sister community to secure that apartment home for you. Since you have already been screened to live at a Camden community, you will just need to fill out a paper application! AND you do not need to pay an application fee OR an admin fee – Cha-Ching! Instead, you pay a holding fee to take the apartment home off the market. Even better…as long as you maintain an active lease throughout the transfer, when you move into your new apartment home, the holding fee is credited back to your account!

Now let’s talk about timing. Only a 30-day notice is required to transfer to another Camden community. Some additional fees may apply if this is within your existing lease term.

Let's Compare

Let’s compare the time and cost of transferring to a new Camden community versus moving to a non-Camden community. For this example, the monthly rent for the current apartment home is $2,000.
