Gallery walls have always been admired and desired, but some people are afraid to take on the challenge. Whether you want to create a statement in your living room or simply make a staircase or blank wall come alive, a gallery is a fun way to express yourself and showcase favorite items in your Camden apartment. For the uninitiated, creating a gallery wall can seem daunting, yet with a few tools and some creativity, you can have a simple selection up in no time. Here’s how.

1. Get your thought process going.
Pottery Barn has several gallery wall templates to choose from if you can’t seem to find the best position for your pictures. If you have a lot of wall space or a loft-style apartment, you can double the templates and space out the pictures 2-3 inches more apart to cover more territory.

2. Pick your theme.
Make sure your theme flows with your apartment décor. If you already have a busy décor aesthetic in your apartment, a toned-down gallery will compliment it perfectly.
Tip: Before you break out the hammer, lay the art out on the floor and cut newspaper to the size of each piece. Using painter's tape, positions the paper on the wall as you would the art, and then try a few different arrangements until you're happy with the way it looks.
3. Start from the left and work your way to the right when hanging your art.
Don’t worry too much about making sure they are straight after each hanging. You may bump some of the pieces while you continue working.
4. Once you have all the art pieces up, get a level, and straighten the art.
Bye-bye, blank walls. Hello, personalized style! When planning your next wall-based masterpiece, look for opportunities to think outside the box. You'll be amazed by what you come up with.
