The season of cold weather is here!  Time to turn on the heat and pull out all of your cozy blankets and warm pajamas.  It is also time to start saving up for the holidays.  A great way to do both is to adjust the way you heat your apartment.  Saving energy is not only good for the planet but can also help you save on your monthly apartment costs.

Open Your Blinds During Sunny Daylight Hours

According to Hunker.com, opening your blinds during the right time of day can help warm your home and save energy.  Just remember to close them at night as extra insulation to block out any cold air coming in.

Prioritize Rooms

Focus on heating the rooms you frequently use first.  Close the vents and doors to block off places you don’t use often or don’t need a lot of heat in and focus on heating the spaces you do use.  Also, close the door to the room you are heating to keep the heat in.
