Camden Cares About United Against Poverty

Each year, Camden communities come together to support local charities and organizations by volunteering with Camden Cares. This year, Orlando communities had the opportunity to join forces with United Against Poverty.
United Against Poverty has one main purpose: "To inspire and empower people living in poverty to lift themselves and their families to economic self-sufficiency." This is accomplished by providing resources such as crisis care, food and household subsidy, employment training and placement, and more!
During our time, we assisted in stocking produce and non-perishable items on the shelves, as well as refrigerated and frozen items. While some of us were occupied with cleaning and sorting, others assisted in the office area. This department is responsible for tasks such as calling to set up interviews for their programs, as well as addressing envelopes for donation mailings. Jennifer Emge (pictured above, left), a Community Manager at Camden World Gateway who has participated in over 25 Camden Cares events expressed that she "liked that they had classes and other assistance" (as part of the program), "...those in need were being helped."
Maurielle Yao, a Community Manager at Camden North Quarter (pictured above, right) was assisting with stocking the refrigerators. She expressed that she enjoys, "having a moment to give back to our local community...it's an impressive effort to gather a whole city and devote a selfless day for our local community."
