3 Indoor Activities for Your Kids This Summer

It seems like everyone is always waiting for summer to come, especially when we have a Camden swimming pool ready for us to jump into. We all love the warm months, but when summer arrives we suddenly look for other ways to enjoy the indoors -without the heavy sun! Keeping your kids from boredom inside is no easy task, but here are 3 indoor activities for your apartment home that can keep you busy this summer.
1. Crafts – You can find numerous ideas online or in books these days for at-home DIYs. Crafts are a great outlet for kids to get their hands dirty and have fun at the same time. Anything colorful such as paints, markers or glitter are always good to keep on hand and can be used in many creative projects. If you are a committed crafter, there’s a big opportunity for you out there with subscription boxes like Little Learning Hands. Each month you receive a mixture of supplies for creative crafts that also give hands-on learning for your little ones. In their most recent box, they included a neat “Build Your Own Catapults” craft with wooden sticks, rubber bands and pom poms. I tried this one at home with my little one and he loved it. Knowing a box like this is coming each month will give your kids excitement and something to look forward to.
2. Science Experiments – Kids love mixing, pouring, shaking and watching things change. Experiments can be big or small, many requiring minimal ingredients you probably already have in your cabinets. Have an apartment home that has a study or desk area? Designate that space as your summer science spot! You can even make a sensory table to experiment with volume and measurements. 3. Fun Food Making – If there is anything my son loves to help with, it’s when I’m cooking. Similar to the science experiments, a little bit of “kid-cooking” gives them their much-wanted hands on experience. You can build things out of fruits and vegetables, or go sweet and simple with baking cookies and decorating cakes. Making fun food (that’s also kid friendly) is a perfect activity for summer! Living at a Camden, we know you will have a spacious kitchen with all the appliances you need, so what are you waiting for?
