Instead of dreading Monday, get ahead of the week with a Sunday reset. A Sunday reset is a day (typically Sunday, but it can be any day) that many of us take to reflect and reset for the upcoming week. Rather than having the Sunday scaries, choose to get ahead on your upcoming tasks and enjoy the time you have for yourself. Here are a few ways adaptable ways to balance productivity and self-care into your Sunday routine.

Get a Leisurely Start to the Morning

Begin your Sunday reset by allowing yourself time to rest. Set your alarm for a reasonable time that will give your mind and body the break they deserve. Having an alarm set saves you from accidentally snoozing, which could waste valuable weekend time.

Coffee or tea? Either goes well paired with 10-15 minutes of quiet time. Before you start to doom-scroll on your phone, consider using this time to journal your thoughts, look at upcoming appointments, and make a meal plan. Find an area that allows you to peacefully and productively complete these activities. You will want to select a place that is just relaxing enough to take you out of your weekday routine, but isn’t so quiet that you’re tempted to jump on social media. The rooftop lounge at Camden Carolinian has a serene view of the Carolina Country Club.

Get Moving

Working out early in the day can help set you up for success later. Exercising releases endorphins, which can boost your mood and increase focus. If the weather cooperates, consider going on a walking trail to enjoy outdoor time in nature. The natural light and calming environment can boost your creativity and cognitive skills. If it’s an indoor kind of day, Camden Overlook has plenty of options with its indoor basketball court and 3,000 sq. ft. fitness center. Invite some friends over and make it into a social activity!

Do Some Productive Things, But Not Too Much

Resetting your space doesn’t have to be an all-day activity. Start by lighting a candle or using a diffuser and turning on a fun playlist. Going room by room in your apartment, wipe down counters, change the sheets and towels, and do a load of laundry. A cluttered space is a cluttered mind, so put away anything that doesn’t need to be out for the day.

Set a timer and do some meal prep! Cut vegetables, shred cheese, and portion out snacks and lunches for the week. Having this done ahead of time will shorten your prep time throughout the week and entice you to eat the food you already have. Just be sure to clean up once you’re finished in the kitchen.

Get into Some Self-Care

The best part of a Sunday reset is getting the self-care that you deserve. This could be a physical or mental reset, and it looks different for everyone.

  • Taking a long shower or bath in your garden-style tub can help with muscle tension and meditation. Try pairing it with a face or hair mask for the ultimate spa treatment.

  • Reading a book or listening to a podcast can improve relaxation and spark creativity. Curl up on the couch with a cup of tea and dim lighting.

  • Be in bed a little earlier than usual! Going to bed 15-20 minutes earlier than usual can help you wake up refreshed and ready to tackle the week.

Doing a Sunday reset doesn’t have to be lengthy and time-consuming. It's about checking in with your physical and mental well-being. Developing these habits over time can help the rest of the week feel like a breeze. If you need help with cleaning and decluttering, Spruce is offered at most Camden communities.
