(http://camdenblogs.files.wordpress.com/2010/10/whaley.jpg)The Whaley House in Old Town San Diego was voted "Most Haunted House in America" by Time magazine in 2005.  At a mere 153 years old, it is supposedly the oldest two story brick building in Southern California. Located on grounds where a gallows once stood, it is the site of hangings dating back to a time before the house was even built.  It is believed that "Yankee Jim" Robinson is one of the spirits that roams the hallways of Whaley House.  He was convicted of grand larceny and hanged there in 1852.  Other spirits believed to inhabit the home are Thomas Whaley (who built the house in 1857), his wife Anna, their daughter Violet, their great-grandmother Marion, and even their fox terrier Dolly Varden. Luckily for anyone who visits Old Town San Diego, the Whaley House offers many different varieties of Ghost Tours.  From a tame daytime house tour to a late night oil lamp ghost hunt, there is something for everyone. Why not get in the spirit of Halloween and go visit the Whaley House....if you dare!
