Does recycling during the holidays feel more complicated than ever? Between glittery wrapping paper, plastic candy wrappers, and festive decorations strewn through your Camden apartment, I feel overwhelmed by the increased volume of waste I generate, especially plastic packaging. I find it challenging to sort through what’s recyclable and what’s not during the holiday season. If you are in the same boat, let me break it down so you can celebrate sustainably without confusion!

Holiday Items You Can Recycle:

  • Plain paper greeting cards and envelopes (no glitter, foil, or plastic)

  • Non-glossy, non-glitter wrapping paper (do the “scrunch test”—if it stays scrunched, it’s likely recyclable)

  • Cardboard boxes from gifts and shipping

  • Clean aluminum baking tins and food cans

  • Plastic bottles and containers (clean and empty)

  • Plain paper gift bags and boxes (no metallic or plastic coatings)

Check the naughty and nice items provided by our waste haulers to properly recycle your waste!
