(http://camdenblogs.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/hot-sauce-fest.gif) It's time to stock up on gallons of milk. The Austin Chronicle is holding its annual Hot Sauce Festival on Sunday, August 28 from 11 am to 5:30 pm at Waterloo Park. If you are like me, you embrace any food that causes your tear ducts to kick into gear and you belong at this festival. Celebrating 21 years of heating up our appetites, this year's fest features a hot sauce competition (in the categories of homemade, restaurants, and commercial bottlers), free tastings, food vendors (Matt's El Rancho, Torchy's Tacos, and more), and live music (featuring the Bright Light Social Hour, amongst other performers). However, the best part about this festival is that it is run in conjunction with the Capital Area Food Bank. Admission is free with three non-perishable food items or a cash donation to the food bank. Also, raffle tickets will be sold for $1 per ticket. Every ticket sold allows the food bank to provide $5 worth of food to families in need. Camden communities in Austin hold food drives every year for the food bank, so I am happy to spread the word about this charitable event. Check out the official webpage at http://www.austinchronicle.com/Market/HotSauce/, and I'll see you at the park!
