So I came across a hidden gem in Costa Mesa! I wanted to go out to dinner with my Husband to a place I’ve never been before on our date night. I found SOCIAL Mesa Costa , which brings high end Gastropub adventure to Costa Mesa's West side. It is 15 min from Camden Martinique. This gem seems to be the new hangout for the locals. It features a fun hipster vibe throughout its atmosphere. This place is modern and rustic all at once. From the reclaimed wood on the walls to the mid-century-esque lighting, everything seems so stylish and on point.

I was shocked to find out that they have only been open a couple of months because the restaurant was full. Once we were seated and greeted by our server she went over the philosophy of the food served at SOCIAL One of their main philosophies is to keep everything simple by creating unique food combinations with exceptional flavor. All of the dishes prepared in their kitchen are from scratch and prepared only with the freshest and finest ingredients.

Our server encouraged us to be “social” by having a wide variety of shared plates on the menu. Take your time sipping on craft cocktails while ordering what your taste buds desire. The Gin Cucumber Dementa and Moscow Mule cocktails were simply refreshing and savory.

We started our savory dinner with the Pimento Cheese Appetizer, which comes with aged Oregon cheddar, bacon jam and grilled bread.

My favorite shared plate was the Cauliflower Gratin with aged cheddar, red Fresno and brown butter crumble.It tasted just like homemade macaroni and cheese only made with cauliflower vs. noodles… total satisfaction without the guilt or calories.

The main dish,the Akaushi Skirt Steak, was to die for. It had red fresno chimichurri, pommes puree, bone marrow butter and garlic chips. This steak is served medium rare and the bone marrow butter brings out the rich flavors. This steak was so extremely delicious that my husband had to order his own because I wasn’t willing to share.
