Being Touristy In My Hometown - San Diego
I am a big fan of the stay-cation and have always enjoyed spending time off in my home town of San Diego. Living at one of Camden's San Diego properties makes this very easy to do. My one mistake has been to not take advantage of the ‘touristy’ things to do…until now! I would like to share with you three recent touristy things I have tried in San Diego.
- Seal Boat Tour – This combo land/water vehicle spends most of the tour in the water. It was a pretty cool sensation to drive down a ramp into the San Diego bay and feel the vehicle start to float. We saw many sunbathing seals (hence the name Seal Boat Tour) and overall beautiful views of the San Diego Bay. It was sunny and windy, so be sure to bring sunglasses, sunblock, and a hat! A great way to see downtown and the bay.
- Patriot Jet Boat Tour – This has to be my favorite of the touristy things I tried. I have a short attention span, so touring the San Diego Bay in a jet boat at 50 mph is my kind of tour. Cruising around in a big jet boat painted like the American Flag blasting rock music just felt patriotic! They did spins, got us soaked, but also took time to zoom by some air craft carriers and the Coronado Bridge. It was the perfect amount of time, 30 minutes, and was not stomach turning at all!
- Pacific Southwest Railway Museum – So pretty much that, a bunch of trains. I may be a little jaded because my husband and daughter are obsessed with trains and I just don’t see it. It was a cool place (especially if you love trains) and they had a train ride you could take which was fun as well. The museum part had tons of trains new and old and was nice to be able to walk through a few of them. I would say it’s a must try…if you really like trains.
I’ve only scratched the surface and look forward to trying new touristy things in my hometown and I encourage you to do the same!
