(https://camdenblogs.files.wordpress.com/2014/11/zilker-tree.jpg) Tonight marks the beginning of the holiday season for many Austinites. Sure, everyone gets into the spirit after Thanksgiving, but something seems to be missing if you drive around downtown. Of course, I'm referring to the Zilker tree. This spiraled behemoth stands tall in Zilker Park as a temporary landmark for the month of December. At 6 pm tonight you can catch the tree lighting ceremony, which will include some great food and live music. Have a cup of hot cider and spin underneath the tree (as is tradition), but I wouldn't recommend doing both at the same time.

The opening tunnel of lights always makes me feel warm and toasty inside. Whether you're new to the Austin area or a seasoned veteran of the electric festivities at Zilker, don't miss out on the fun this year!
