If you have ever moved, chances are you decided to move on a weekend. Saturdays are generally the busiest days to move in since most people are on a Monday-Friday work schedule. However, moving on a weekday has several benefits you should consider!

**Financial Benefits**

  • Save your money! Due to the high demand of moving on a weekend, there is often less availability to book your movers or a rental truck. If you’re looking to move quickly, there may be some limitations on what you’re able to book Saturday-Sunday.

Moving companies may also charge higher rates during this time, especially during peak moving times in the summer.

  • If renting or buying a new place outside of Camden, you will likely need to pay new deposits, fees, and/or down payments. You will also need to factor in the cost of moving materials such as boxes, bubble wrap, packing tape, dollies, and so on – these small things can add up quickly!

  • If you’re a current Camden resident and are thinking about moving, this is something to consider at your lease renewal. At face value, it’s easy to only look at the new rent price and decide if you want to stay in your apartment. However, moving has several hidden costs aside from the rental truck. Professional Movers Intl. estimated that the average cost of professional moving in 2019 was $4,300 – money that could be used towards paying bills, savings, or pursuing a passion.

**Time Saving Benefits**

  • Most of the time, moving is an all-day process that starts in the morning. During morning commuter traffic on weekdays, you can make the most of this time and start loading your moving truck to make your first big trip. From there, you can count on little to no traffic during the day while everyone is at work. This will make the move less stressful and allow you to make quick trips to run errands.

  • If you decided to pick up your router and modem for your Camden technology package after move-in, you may benefit from having longer store hours and a shorter wait time at the store during the week. The same rules apply to your utility companies – some providers are not open on weekends, so if you need to contact your electricity or gas provider, it may have to wait until the following week.

  • I recently moved on a Friday, and having the extra day to move and unpack was invaluable during such a busy time! Even though you may need to use a vacation day, taking that time to make sure you’re settled is worth it. If you absolutely can’t get off of work that day, another way to simplify your move is to pick up your apartment keys after work, move over some small items that can fit in a car, and get those items out of the way to ensure a quicker, easier moving process the following day!

**Convenience Benefits**

  • Your Camden team is available onsite 7 days a week. We will do our best to answer all your questions and make sure that we assist you with anything you need. However, weekends are the busiest time of the week for us, and that usually means that we spend the day on tours or speaking with other residents. Moving on a weekday means there will likely be more staff members present, a quicker response time, and more availability to set up your move-in appointment and go over all of the important details.

  • The Camden maintenance teams are here 7 days a week, too, and they operate by completing emergency-only service requests on the weekends. Non-emergency and emergency service requests are completed on weekdays, which means that if you move on a weekend, you may have to wait a day or two to have the small things taken care of. We will make sure that everything you need is taken care of as soon as possible, but if these details are important to you, you may want to reconsider your move-in day for a weekday.

According to a recent study involving 2,000 adults, moving was voted as the most stressful life event, followed by a divorce/break up and starting a new job. With that in mind, why not try to make your life easier and save some time and money along the way? All these factors will help you enjoy your new Camden home that much more, and we’ll do our best to make sure you never want to leave!
