I would never necessarily choose to visit Afghanistan or Iraq in today’s condition, and I definitely would not ever choose to visit a combat zone.  Fortunately there are those who do.  Not only do they choose to visit a combat zone, but they do it with pride, with a sense of duty, and with a sense of purpose.

To show our appreciation, the IROC (California and Arizona) region of Camden Property Trust recently adopted a Marine helicopter squadron that is currently deployed to Afghanistan.  Because of their need for everyday simple items and comfort foods, the IROC region decided to start a food and item drive to send over to our Marines.  Due to numerous generous donations from our residents and employees, many care packages were sent out just in time to arrive to the Marines by Halloween.

With an overwhelming and heartwarming response, the idea has caught on and already plans are in the works for Thanksgiving and Christmas care package drives.  The first large shipment are still en-route to the Marines in Afghanistan, but with gift boxes containing food, snacks, toiletries, and even letters from people of all ages, the Marines are certainly in for welcome treat!
