(http://camdenblogs.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/camden-mentor-pin.jpg) Have you ever stopped by your Camden leasing office and noticed an employee wearing a gold pin that says "Camden Mentor?"  Maybe you have seen a pin like this on the shirt of one of the members of your friendly maintenance staff.  If you haven't guessed, this pin signifies that the wearer is a member of the Camden Mentor program in which a few select Camden employees volunteer their time to help train newly hired/promoted members of the Camden family.  This not only streamlines the flow of occupational knowledge but it also helps to immerse the employee in Camden culture and values.  I was recently chosen as a Camden Mentor for Leasing Consultants and Assistant Managers, so Camden flew me to Camden's corporate office in Houston for training.  This was a truly great experience, and I met a lot of interesting people as we studied several schools of thought regarding the adult learning process.  On the last day of training we were each asked to share one piece of knowledge that we would personally take from the training.  I shared with my peers that I have had three mentors in my educational and professional career.  The support and influence these people had on me gave me the drive and desire to help others in turn.  However, I have not had the formal opportunity to fulfill this goal until I joined the ranks at Camden.  The Camden Mentor program is just another avenue that our company uses to help our employees to better help our residents.  The next time you see someone at your community wearing a "Camden Mentor" pin, feel free to ask them about their experiences in the program and with the company in general.  I'm sure they will give you some positive feedback.
