Chairman of the Board & CEO
Richard Campo is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Camden Property Trust. Mr. Campo has served in this capacity since May 1993. As the Chairman and CEO of one of the nation’s largest multifamily Real Estate Investment Trusts, Mr. Campo holds strategic roles within the real estate industry. He is currently a member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts ('NAREIT') where he serves on the Executive Board, the National Multifamily Housing Council ('NMHC') where he serves on the Executive Committee and was past chairman, and the Urban Land Institute ('ULI').
Mr. Campo began his real estate career after graduating from Oregon State University in 1976. After working for a private Houston real estate company, Mr. Campo co-founded Camden’s predecessor companies in 1982 and has spent almost 30 years building a company of great people that are renowned for their management proficiency, their development and construction capabilities and their savvy in the areas of technology, training and marketing. He has led the development, management, acquisition and disposition of real estate properties valued in excess of $10 billion; and under his leadership, Camden has grown from a Texas-based real estate firm with assets valued at $200 million in 1993 to an industry leader with a national footprint and assets valued at more than $8 billion.
Mr. Campo serves on the Board of Directors of several organizations that focus on the economic development, business outlook and future growth of Houston, including Central Houston, Inc., the Greater Houston Community Foundation and the Greater Houston Partnership, and is an Executive Advisory Board Member for the University of Houston, C.T. Bauer College of Business. Mr. Campo is also the Chairman of the Houston First Corporation, a local government corporation that facilitates the city's economic growth through the business of conventions and the arts.
Mr. Campo is a frequent speaker on real estate and development related topics for both industry-related and non-industry conferences and associations and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
D. Keith Oden
President & Trust Manager
D. Keith Oden was co-founder of Camden's predecessor companies in 1982 and has served Camden as President and Trust Manager since 1993. As a Principal Executive Officer and Director, Oden drives Camden's strategic initiatives, leads the property operations and corporate support services, and promotes the company's culture.
After completing his Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin, Oden began his career as a management consultant with the then-public accounting firm Deloitte, Haskins and Sells in 1979. He joined Century Development Corporation, one of the most active real estate development firms in the Southwest in 1981, and later became Director of Financial Planning.
For more than twenty years, Mr. Oden has been committed to developing one of the best multifamily companies in the industry. Under his purview, Camden successfully completed the mergers of three public real estate companies: Paragon, Oasis Residential, and Summit Properties in 1997, 1998 and 2005, respectively. Oden’s work was instrumental to the assimilation of these three companies into Camden’s culture.
Oden is a member of the Executive Council of the Center for Real Estate Finance at the University of Texas and serves as advisor, financial supporter, guest lecturer and panelist for the faculty and students pursuing their MBAs in real estate finance. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and a licensed real estate broker in the State of Texas.

Campo and Oden. Chief Financial Officer-Treasurer
Although he was born in Denver, Alex Jessett was raised in Houston – a real-life example of the saying: “I wasn’t born in Texas but I got here as fast as I could.” Alex went to the University of Texas for his undergrad and joined Camden in 1999 after earning his MBA from the University of Houston and is now CFO. He is responsible for billions (with a capital B) in debt and equity issuances and partnerships for Camden. In other words, he’s the one always asking, “Wait – how much is this going to cost?”
Alex loves his adopted home town and is on the Board of Directors for Central Houston, Inc., which focuses on the development of the city’s downtown. He enjoys fancy dinners with his wife, Demi, and coaching his kids’ football teams. He also uses his finance savvy to save up his pennies so that he can one day win the annual charity lunch auction to meet his idol: Warren Buffet.

Executive Vice President of Real Estate Investments
Bill Sengelmann is Camden’s resident practical joker – with a dry sense of humor that isn’t always politically correct (even though he thinks it is). Bill knows someone everywhere he goes and is a big Lornhorn fan, especially when they’re winning. Born and raised in Houston, Bill graduated from the University of Texas and joined Camden in 1998. He is now Executive Vice President of Real Estate Investments. He makes big deals happen which makes him a pretty big deal too.
It’s no surprise that Bill’s favorite TV show is Seinfeld since he is able to add humor to any situation (or non-situation). In his spare time, Bill loves fishing and hunting. With two kids away at college, weekends find him trying to beat par on the golf course or drinking a perfectly-made martini with his wife, Pam. If he asks you to join a friendly game of poker, watch out because he’s been known to bluff and win with just a pair of twos.
Take risks when you’re young and you don’t have a lot of responsibility. – Bill Sengelmann
Senior Vice President of Investor Relations
Kim Callahan is who we count on to speak the truth to our Wall Street analysts. As Senior Vice President of Investor Relations, Kim communicates the Camden story to our shareholders. Raised in a quiet town right outside of Philly, she traded in her Pat's cheesesteak sandwiches (hold the Cheez Whiz, that is just gross!) and trips to the Jersey Shore for eight-lane highways to study Economics & Management at Rice University in Houston and she never looked back. Since joining Camden in 1996, Kim played a key role with our Finance group and she has been responsible for all things tied to Camden investor relations.
She prides herself in being able to figure out the ending of NCIS before anyone else – including her attorney husband, Michael. When she’s not fielding questions about ROI and EPS, you’ll find Kim watching her daughter practicing horseback riding.
“The only way to have a friend is to be one.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson
Senior Vice President of Human Resources
Cindy Scharringhausen is a naturally positive person. Want to see her positively ecstatic? Get her to tell you about why Camden is a great place to work and the fact that Camden has been on the Fortune 100 Best Places To Work For® list since 2007. Cindy grew up outside of Philadelphia, graduated from Bloomburg University and moved to Houston to start her career. As Senior Vice President (and ‘Big Chief’) of Human Resources, she has the enviable task of promoting the Camden values especially the fan-favorite Have Fun.
Cindy’s a champion for fitness and exercise. It’s not unusual to find Cindy on a long walk with her husband and the world’s two cutest dachshunds (her words). One thing you won’t see is Cindy without her carbonated water. She’s personally keeping SodaStream® in business.

Senior Vice President-Chief Accounting Officer
Michael Gallagher is responsible for keeping the lights on at Camden – literally, because as our SVP and Chief Accounting Officer, he’s the one to pay the bills. He’s a true Texan with degrees from both Texas A&M University and the University of Texas at Tyler (he has all of his bases covered) and he loves baseball and the Texas Rangers.
Camden has benefited from Michael’s experience with big companies you may have heard of like General Electric and PricewaterhouseCoopers. On a side note, he loves science fiction and has been known to spend a lot of time woodworking. We’re not sure how we benefit from those two things, though.
“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘Press On’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” - Calvin Coolidge (wow – that’s a long quote!)
Senior Vice President of Construction
Steve Hefner is our in house ‘Bob the Builder’ of all things. As SVP of Construction at Camden, he oversees every detail of the multiple developments that Camden undertakes each year. With a Construction Science degree from Texas State Technical Institute and a background in Project Management, Steve proves every day that the devil really is in the details. He’s built it all and he’s not afraid to tell you about it. And don’t even get him started on the wide world of stucco (yucko).
Steve represents his fellow Texans well with his love of hunting, fishing, playing golf and reading. You can also find him and his wife, Kindra, cheering on his daughter on the volleyball court or spreading around one of his motivational books to his team. Everyone jokes about the Hefner Book Club.
“Be the first to arrive and the last to leave.” – Steve’s Dad
Senior Vice President of Strategic Services-Chief Information Officer
Kristy Simonette is 100% Houstonian. After graduating from Schreiner University (not to be confused with the Shiner Brewery), Kristy has spent her career in property management and technology. As CIO and SVP of Strategic Services at Camden, Kristy is a trail blazer in the industry leading the IT, Marketing and Inbound Sales teams. Programmers, graphic designers, and contact center agents all together - just imagine what those staff meetings look like.
Kristy, her husband John, and daughter, are avid concert goers and have diverse, eclectic tastes ranging from pop, to blues, to old school rock-and-roll. Except country & western - she really doesn’t like country & western music. Seems strange for a native Texan.
Don’t let perfection stand in the way of progress. - Kristy Simonette
Senior Vice President of Fund & Asset Management
If you haven’t met Laurie Baker yet, don’t worry - you will meet her at an event soon. With a personality the size of Texas and a presence on many industry boards, Laurie is the person to know in the multi-family industry. Laurie earned her Masters of Finance from George Washington University and enjoyed nine years working in DC. She may be the only person that did “real work” inside The Beltway. At Camden, as Senior Vice President of Fund and Asset Management, Laurie uses her background in marketing, operations, and technology to maximize Camden’s real estate value and build strong business partnerships.
Laurie has a reputation for working late but she always makes time for her family. Whether it’s chilling on Lake Livingston or skiing in Colorado, Laurie along with her husband, Chris, and her two children, makes sure to enjoy every day. And, on Sundays – well Sundays are for Texans football.
“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” ― Mahatma Gandhi
Senior Vice President of Operations
Tom Sloan traveled the farthest to get to Camden. Born in Hawaii, growing up in Memphis and living in Atlanta, D.C., & California, he finally made it to Houston in 2010. As SVP of Operations, he uses his degree in Psychology on a daily basis to find what motivates people to be their very best by doing things his way.
When he’s not pining for the Anfernee Hardaway days of Memphis Tiger basketball, Tom mans the timing station at his son’s competitive swim meets. His wife, Valeria, and older son are often by his side. A huge fan of Seinfeld, Tom continues to campaign for the national recognition of Festivus. Tom also brings new meaning to the words ‘I see dead people’ as he likes to visit and enjoy the historical perspective of graveyards, while on vacation. (Hmmm… that’s not weird at all.)
“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.” – Colin Powell
Senior Vice President - General Counsel
Josh Lebar started out at the University of Texas with plans to go to Medical School but realized three years in that he “didn’t like human suffering” so he became a lawyer instead.
Before finding his home at Camden, he spent his career working on real estate deals and negotiating contracts for small projects like the development of a 40,000-seat soccer stadium in Brazil for the 2014 World Cup. As Camden’s General Counsel, Josh is responsible for dotting the "I"s, crossing the "T"s, and basically keeping us in line and out of trouble.
Josh met his wife Desiree twenty years ago at Maggie Mae’s on Austin’s 6th Street when they were both in college. They like playing tennis with friends and enjoying life with family down in South Texas. Like many Texans, Josh has an adventurous side when it comes to exotic foods. The craziest thing he’s eaten are chocolate-covered grasshoppers and no – they weren’t good.
