Want to smile more?
Does your day rotate over and over with the same mundaneness as yesterday and the day before? Then it’s time to shake up your day and create an itinerary of moments that you may encounter on a daily basis in or around your community.
Here’s your morning itinerary...
Instead of hitting the snooze button, get up and pour yourself a glass water with lemon. Starting your day with a glass of water and lemon helps to maintain your metabolism. According to Step to Health, “When you don’t drink enough water, your metabolism will slow down to preserve energy, because it’s preparing you to deal with a case of dehydration.”
Instead of procrastinating to walk your dog (guilty here!), take him out for a walk to the bark parks around your community. These areas are great hubs for meeting neighbors who are fellow pet owners. Next thing you know, you have a puppy play date planned and an extra pet sitter to call in case of emergencies.
Instead of eating last night’s leftovers for breakfast, take full advantage of your apartment’s stainless steel appliances with its ample room for meal prep storage. Try a fellow blogger’s meal prep recipes for cake batter frozen yogurt or spaghetti squash caprese bake.
Instead of looking at social media on your phone, take a few minutes to stretch out and enjoy the morning sun from your apartment patio. Do you have room to add a yoga mat and do some early morning vinyasa? Do you have a bistro table to enjoy some coffee and a morning sunrise? The answer is yes, yes you do.
Instead of just walking by the leasing office and asking if you could use the business center, take a moment to leave a kind note or a token of appreciation - whether that’s in person, on our Facebook page or on MyCamden. Here’s a glimpse in the day in the life of a Community Manager and the many roles we play to keep everyone smiling.
Instead of screaming at the children to get ready for school, give them each a good long hug and tell them something unique that you love about them. Have them repeat after you, “I am…[fill in the blank].” Daily affirmations help instill positive attitude towards others and towards themselves. Planet of Success has a list of 145+ affirmations for kids you might want to try.
Now that you’ve started your day with a reason to smile, here are some great ways to wind down from a rough day.
