Studio apartments have become the new norm for many—and you can use those small living tips to embrace your apartment without feeling like you’re boxed in or cramped. Of course, you can start by creating adequate storage options and living with less clutter, but what about ways to make your home appear larger and more open? Mirrors positioned in the right places are a quick, easy and affordable way to get a room to look bigger and brighter. In fact, they almost act like a window when placed near a natural light source. Here are some ways you can use mirrors in your own space.
Try Mirrors in Unexpected Places:
In a bedroom, position a mirror directly across from a window to help diffuse more natural light into the space. If that’s not possible, consider mirrored furniture as another way to make your bedroom appear bigger and brighter. Krista from The Happy Housie shows off her gorgeous mirrored bedside tables that show how much you can take advantage of natural light, even with a nontraditional mirror. Got an empty wall space that needs something extra? Hanging a large mirror on a bedroom wall can make tight-fitting furniture look less cramped.
Brighten a Hallway with Natural Lighting:
Positioning a mirror behind a lamp or across from a window is another way to make the best use of lighting and open up your space. If you have a hallway that’s dark or crowded, consider hanging a mirror over the table with two lamps on either end. The lamps will brighten things up, and the mirror will add to the visual appeal. Z Designs at Home uses this tactic to make her hallway look fresh. Plus, round “porthole” mirrors are a big trend in home decor right now!
There are so many fun options for using mirrors. Whether the ones you choose are large or small, old or new, you can transform your Camden apartment quickly with strategic positioning and great lighting sources.
