If you have kept up with some of our other Simply Camden blogs than you know how naughty my two huskies can be. I’ve seen them take down an entire Christmas tree, so when I decided to add some house plants to my apartment I needed to do some research first. In the past, my dog Aspen has been known to eat plants so I wanted to make sure that every plant that I brought in would be pet friendly and nontoxic. If your pet is like Aspen here are a few to try out:

The Snake Plant is one of my favorites due to its gorgeous foliage. Its long, medium green leaves have dark spots on top and a rich purple color on its underside. The Rattlesnake plant thrives in spaces that are warmer and do not have direct sunlight making this the perfect plant for your kitchen or dining space likes the ones at Camden LaVina.

African Violets are a great way to bring a pop of color into your apartment home. Ranging in shades of lavender, blue, pink, and white, this plant is perfect for the indoors because their leaves need to stay dry. Try placing these near a window with indirect sunlight and watch them bloom year-round regardless of the cooler temperatures found at our Colorado Camden communities.

Your cat may be attracted to the Spider Plant’s dangly leaves but have no fear these plants are nontoxic to your furry babies. However, if you’re looking to avoid your cat or dog snacking on these, try elevating them by placing them in a hanging basket. These plants love the humidity so try placing them in your steamy bathroom! With ample bathroom space at Camden Paces they’ll be the perfect fit!

Although dangerous for insects, the Venus Fly Trap is actually safe for your pets. Not only is this plant eye-catching with its eyelash-like teeth but these plants will help catch the stray gnat or fly. These funky plants love sunlight and would be perfect in the airy sunrooms of Camden South Bay!

Herbs

While most people may not think about it, herbs that we add to our favorite dishes, are also great for your pet to snack on. Basil, Chamomile, Thyme, and Mint all love direct sunlight and would be perfect for Camden Orange Court residents as each apartment has their own patio or balcony. Or if you have gorgeous floor to ceiling windows like The Camden residents try placing them close to the windows and watch them grow!
