Have you ever had one of those Saturdays when you have nothing planned and are looking for something to do? Want to experience some small town life? If you live in the Houston area, look no further. Come and visit Katy. I’ll be your tour guide.
Do you like shopping? Here are 4 places that I’m dying to show you in downtown Katy.
- Kimberly’s Stitchery and Mercantile on Highway Blvd. Kimberly’s sells vintage linens, as well as old sewing machines, and hand crafted paper flowers from vintage paper. If you are up to it, Kimberly offers sewing classes for those looking to learn how to sew.
- KT Antiques on Second Street is a fun place to peruse an eclectic array of antiques and collectibles mixed in with new farmhouse décor items.
- Junk Street Market is where you can find unique vintage treasures and repurposed furniture items.
- NY Texas Style boutique is where you can find cute western wear and gifts as well as turquoise jewelry. Great place to find Texas themed items for your home, as well.
Are you hungry, yet? Did you forget to eat breakfast before you came or should lunch come early? Well, come on down toSnappy’s Café and Grill. Snappy’s is known for their breakfast, but also serves a full lunch menu. It’s where you go for gigantic pancakes or yummy gyro sandwiches that are served up with a smile from their friendly wait staff. If anything, at least go to hear the local gossip.
Time head over to Mary Jo Peckham Park for some outdoor time to work off our lunch. If you happened to bring your fishing pole, you can fish out of the small lake (fishing license regulations do apply). The park has a couple of great playgrounds for the kiddos and a dog park, too. You can even borrow some putters from the recreation center to play a FREE round of miniature golf.
Are you thirsty? Well, head on over to No Label Brewing Company on First Street to complete your afternoon of fun. No Label Brewing Company offers tastings on Saturday afternoons from 12-3. You get 4 “tastings” for 10 bucks, plus a souvenir glass. Bring a chair and stay for the live music. As you are sampling their many beer offerings, stuff your face with some food truck fare. The fun can’t be beat!
