When you’re away on vacation, the last thing you want to be thinking about is your apartment. No matter how much you love your home (who wouldn’t love a Camden apartment?), you don’t want to be worrying about maintenance issues or crime while you’re away. For crimes tips, check out this guide on securing your home when you’re away for the holidays. For maintenance tips for the holidays, stay right here! These handy how-to tips will keep maintenance disasters from striking while you’re away for the holidays.

1. Keep the faucets dripping

Be a move ahead of winter pipe accidents by leaving just one faucet on with a slight drip while you’re away. It will keep your pipes from freezing and therefore prevent you from coming home to a burst pipe and a flooded apartment. Your Camden team will take care of the outdoor pipes, don’t worry, but you can protect your indoor pipes with just a little drip.

2. Adjust the thermostat

Save money and save your apartment! You don’t need full heat when nobody’s home, turn that thermostat down (not off) and save money on your electric bill while keeping appliances and pipes inside warm enough to prevent any issues.

3. Unplug Electronics

To quote Smokey the Bear, only you can prevent apartment fires! Unplug your electronics before you leave for vacation. Again, you’re saving money on your electric bill and you are preventing a potential fire.

4. Clean up a little

Take. That. Trash. Out. Don’t come home to smelly garbage; just don’t do it. That’s the minimum but if you want to do the maximum, clean your apartment before you leave so you can come home to tidiness, peace and totally restful environment.

5. Check on your renter’s insurance

While maintenance issues are preventable, they’re also inevitable in any home. Be all the way ahead of possible issues by making sure your renter’s insurance is 100% up to date. If anything does happen you, your home and your belongings are all completely protected. For more on the invaluable resource of renter’s insurance check out this blog.
