Camden Provides Much More Than Apartment Homes
Given the opportunity to work at a Fortune 100 company at the age of 19 was pretty much life changing. Not only was I provided with a job, they also provided me with real-life mentoring and the opportunity to grow within Camden. 8 years ago I would’ve never imagined myself where I am today. I was given a chance regardless of my lack of industry knowledge and college degree. I was hired solely because of my personality and my eagerness to learn. I knew immediately after my first few weeks that Camden was going to be my career. I was able to move up the Camden ladder pretty quickly, earning promotions and being able to work in another city. With the opportunity to move to Austin I was able to see how far our Camden values reached. I tell ya we have some pretty amazing employees out there. Not only was I welcomed with hugs, I was taught more than just our Camden values. My Community Manager in Austin took me under her wing and showed me the inner workings of being an Assistant Manager. But what stuck out most was her compassion for our customers. Every single person she encountered was left with a smile no matter the circumstances and I knew that’s how I wanted my professional and personal interactions to be. It opened my eyes, even though at times we cannot change a process or a policy we can still do the right thing and figure out a solution that best fits our customer. A little compassion goes a long way.
Fast forward 1 year later I came back to Houston to another great Camden property and then on to my first lease up ever! Camden City Centre Phase II was a huge deal and I’m still honored to be a part of it. We leased up in 9 months and it was no easy feat, but I’m glad it wasn’t! It taught me a lot about myself and also about managing people. The challenges that I faced are what teed me up to be a Team Lead in the Contact Center. Coming back to the Contact Center I was thrilled to be reunited with my CCC family. Best part about coming back was getting to work with our fearless Contact Center leaders again. They are always encouraging me to do my best and to give it my all. From them I’ve learned how to maintain a professional image, how to speak in front of an audience (without fainting), how to push myself and most importantly they taught me to be confident. I’ve often been the girl in the corner watching, but working with these two amazing women has taught me that I can capture a room with my voice and my opinions.
To sum it up, It’s kind of scary to think where I would be if I never had Camden. I choose to work at Camden because I can grow every day. That may be through my supervisors giving me guidance or a customer interaction. I walk away with something every day. Camden changed me inside and out, by giving me that opportunity to grow. It made me the best version of myself. Here’s to you Camden!
