Learn about Camden
The more you can learn about Camden and the position you're applying for, the more prepared you'll feel during the interview. We suggest you browse through the tabs above to learn about our history, business, and employee benefits!

back

What to wear
Our work attire varies based on our roles, so we recommend that you dress appropriately for the position to which you are applying. As a general rule of thumb, candidates tend to feel more confident if they are slightly overdressed rather than slightly underdressed.

back

Phone interviews
Before coming to our offices for a face-to-face interview, you may be asked to participate in a phone interview. Phone interviews tend to focus on foundational issues, such as prior work experience, expected work hours, and job descriptions, but may include more in-depth discussions. It's important to speak and conduct yourself in the same manner as you would in a face-to-face interview.

back

Two-up interviews
All future Camden employees interview with their soon-to-be manager and their manager's manager. We call this two-up interviewing because it reaches two management levels above the target position. By meeting multiple levels of management during the interview process, new employees feel more comfortable with our business structure and appreciate our open communication strategy.

back

Peer interviews
Our candidates may also be asked to interview with their future team members. Talking with peers provides the perfect opportunity for you to gain a better understanding of your job, the work environment and Camden's culture.

back

Behavioral interviews
Camden uses behavioral interview techniques to learn more about you and your prior experience. Behavioral interview questions simply ask you to describe how you have responded to situations in the past. To best answer these questions, use the following S*T*A*R* (Situation—Task—Action—Result) method of answering a question.

For example, if the interviewer says "Tell me about a time when you had a dissatisfied customer."

- Describe a SITUATION in which you had a dissatisfied customer
- Explain the TASK you had to complete to satisfy the customer
- Tell the interviewer about the ACTION you took to handle the situation
- Finally, explain the RESULT of the situation

Here, the interviewer is looking for a specific example of how you've handled a customer service situation. Remember to take your time and think of the best possible example you can give based on your past work experience. If you haven't had the experience to answer the question, simply be honest and let the interviewer know.

Have fun
"Have Fun" is one of our nine Camden values. The interview process is a great place to begin embracing this particular value. You will be interviewing with your future peers and management team—we want you to feel comfortable and be yourself!
